Post-Operative Instructions

Do not disturb the dressing for the first 24 hours. When you're ready to change the dressing we recommend you wet the dressing when showering before. Please do the following for 1-2 weeks:

  1. Remove the dressing slowly and carefully
  2. Clean wound throughly with Hydrogen Peroxide using Cotton swabs, Cotton balls, or Gauze
  3. Apply Ointment over the incisions (Neosporin, Aquaphor, Vaseline, or CereVe Healing Ointment)
  4. Apply Gauze or a Band-Aid
  5. Cover securely with medical tape if needed

Make sure to reframe from any physical activity and smoking. Change dressings when they get bloody or wet. Watch for signs of wound infection like excessive pain, swelling, and redness. Minor bleeding can usually be stopped with firm continuous pressure for 5-10 minutes. For pain relief it is best to try straight Tylenol or Acetaminophen.
